Suicide, depression and isolation

Do not let another Sushant happen with your loved ones.

Suicide in depression does not happen with one argument, one fight, it happens when that one incident pushes someone beyond the edge of what they can bear. The final nail in the coffin.

These lockdown days are testing times for a lot of your friends and acquaintances. Be there for them, just hang around, ask how they’re doing. That’s all it takes.

One surprise phone call in the moments when Sushant was contemplating this could’ve stopped this.

Please, don’t leave anyone alone. Check on your friends, relatives, whoever you can. Especially the people living alone. Loneliness breaks down even the strongest people.

There is a reason Solitary Confinement is given as a punishment. Don’t let this lockdown turn into a punishment for anyone. It messes up with their brain and lets negative thoughts rule it.

It does not matter then whether someone is rich or not. Loneliness does not go away with having money to spend. Having luxuries doesn’t make isolation tolerable.

You might be surprised to know about a few of the World’s most luxurious prisons like in New Zealand (Otago Corrections Facility), Norway (Bastoy Prison), Spain (Aranjuez Prison) and many others of the kind.

Another important mention in this regard would be the San Pedro Prison, Bolivia. It understands the need for rehabilitation in a community and not just on an individual level.

Hope this post gives you enough reasons to be there for someone and be their hope so that they don’t give up.
